PSALM 4
Psalm 4 is a psalm of comfort, and at the same time a psalm of prayer and instruction that teaches us to trust in God when things go wrong. It rebukes the ungodly, who concern themselves over vain gods and fleshly comfort, yet will not bear to wait confidently for God, who is the highest comfort. God surprises us by how He deals with His saints. At first, He abandons them and tries their faith and patience. On the other hand are the ungodly who want to have a full and secure belly. If anyone talks to them about faith and patience, they mock and despise Him and say, “Can this fool tell us what is good? Yes, you be patient until a roast chicken flies into your mouth. Trust in that and you will starve!” This psalm belongs to the First Commandment. It teaches and urges us to hope in God and endure hardship and every need with patience, and it rebukes the faithless and impatient. Psalm 4 is included in the Third and Seventh Petitions, in which we pray that God’s will be done and that we be delivered from evil. It can also be in the Fourth Petition, when we ask for our daily bread, that is, for peace and all the necessities of life in the face of every earthly need.
시편 4 편은 위로의 시편이며 동시에 우리의 일들이 잘못되어질 때 우리가 하나님을 신뢰하도록 가르치는 기도와 교훈의 시편입니다. 또한 이 시편은 헛된 신들과 육적인 위로에 관하여는 자기 자신을 염려하지만, 가장 큰 위로가 되시는 하나님을 위해 확신을 가지고 기다리지 않는 불경건한 자들을 책망합니다. 하나님은 당신의 성도들을 다루시는 방식을 통해 그들을 놀라게 하십니다. 맨 처음에 그는 그들을 버리고 그들의 믿음과 인내를 시도합니다. 반면에 가득 차고 안전한 배를 갖고 싶은 불경건한 사람들이 있습니다. 만일 누군가가 이들에게 믿음과 인내에 관해 이야기 하노라면, 그들은 그를 조롱하고 경멸하며 이렇게 말합니다. “이 바보가 우리에게 무엇이 좋은지 말할 수 있겠느냐? 그래, 구운 닭이 네 입으로 저절로 날아 들어갈 때까지 기다려 봐라. 그 말을 믿으면 굶어 죽을 게야! 또한 이 시편은 첫 번째 계명과 관련이 있습니다. 그것은 우리에게 하나님 안에서 소망을 품고 인내를 갖고 시련과 모든 필요들을 견뎌내도록 가르치고 도전합니다. 또한 신실함이 없고 참을성이 없는 사람들을 책망하기도 합니다. 그리고 시편 4 편은 주기도문의 3번째, 7번째 간구와도 관련이 있습니다. 우리는 하나님의 뜻이 이루어지기를 기도하며, 악에서 구해 주시기를 기도합니다. 우리가 매일 매일의 일용할 양식, 즉 이 땅에서의 모든 필요에 맞닥뜨릴 때 평화와 모든 필요들을 구할 때 그것은 또한 주기도문의 4번째 간구와도 관련이 있습니다.
1 의로우신 나의 하나님, 내가 부르짖을 때에 응답하여 주십시오.
내가 곤궁에 빠졌을 때에, 나를 막다른 길목에서 벗어나게 해주십시오.
나에게 은혜를 베푸시고, 나의 기도를 들어 주십시오.
2 너희 높은 자들아, 언제까지 내 영광을 욕되게 하려느냐?
언제까지 헛된 일을 좋아하며, 거짓 신을 섬기겠느냐? (셀라)
3 주님께서는 주님께 헌신하는 사람을 각별히 돌보심을 기억하여라.
주님께서는 내가 부르짖을 때에 들어 주신다.
4 너희는 분노하여도 죄짓지 말아라.
잠자리에 누워 마음 깊이 반성하면서, 눈물을 흘려라. (셀라)
5 올바른 제사를 드리고, 주님을 의지하여라.
6 “주님, 우리에게 큰 복을 내려 주십시오.”
“누가 우리에게 좋은 일을 보여줄 수 있을까?” 하며 불평하는 사람이 많이 있습니다.
그러나 주님, 주님의 환한 얼굴을 우리에게 비춰 주십시오.
7 주님께서 내 마음에 안겨 주신 기쁨은
햇곡식과 새 포도주가 풍성할 때에 누리는 기쁨보다 더 큽니다.
8 내가 편히 눕거나 잠드는 것도,
주님께서 나를 평안히 쉬게 하여 주시기 때문입니다.

7 You have put more joy | in my heart*

for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in | safety.
PRAYER
O God, our merciful Father in heaven, fill our hearts with patience under the cross, strengthen our faith, and so govern us that we give offense to none, neither in word nor deed. Grant us also this day all that we need for body and soul. Amen.
오 하나님, 하늘에 계신 우리의 자비로우신 아버지, 십자가 아래서 인내심을 품도록 우리의 마음을 채우시고, 우리의 믿음을 굳세게 하여 주옵소서, 그리고 우리를 주관하여 주사 누구에게도 말이나 행동으로 해를 끼치지 않게 하옵소서. 또한 오늘 우리에게 우리의 몸과 영혼을 위해 필요한 모든 것을 허락해 주십시오. 아멘.
